Are you dealing with feeling exhausted, burnt out, sad, anxious, stuck, overwhelmed, lonely, or living in fear for the next bad thing to happen? Are you caught in a downward spiral of guilt or shame or wondering if you are good enough; struggling to love yourself or worried about others loving you; or dealing with "imposter syndrome?" Do you feel like it's too much yet you always have to be the strong one at work, with family, in your relationships, in community? Want to feel better and address the real root causes?
I offer anti-oppressive, trauma-informed therapy to support you to move from trauma to liberation. I believe in you and in a better world that includes all of us. We all deserve to be free. Feel seen, heard, and supported.
I support you to heal from trauma, recover from depression and anxiety, have better relationships, care for your self, build confidence, learn to cope, make better decisions for yourself, build self-esteem and self-love, feel grounded, connect with your hidden strengths, be your authentic self, navigate conflict, manage work or school, deal with family, survive, and thrive.
I work with adults ages 18 and up as individuals and in groups. Many of my clients identify as women; non-binary folks; BIPOC; South Asian; immigrant; children of immigrants; queer; trans; people with disabilities / chronic pain / chronic illness; neurodivergent; survivors; living at the intersections of multiple identities; and / or allies. I also provide free therapy to eligible Indigenous Clients through the NIHB and eligible Refugee Clients through the IFHP. I often receive feedback that I make folks feel welcome and supported.
In Toronto? Brampton? Mississauga? Ottawa? Scarborough? Hamilton? North Bay? Vancouver? Surrey? Victoria? No problem. The first step towards transforming your life is to take action. Contact us today to schedule your initial consultation and start your journey towards a happier, healthier, liberated you.
I work from a staged approach to addressing presenting issues with a recognition of the the role of experiences of trauma and oppression. The first stage involves resourcing for safety. The second stage involves processing. The third stage involves post-traumatic growth for liberation. We start where you are at with what you need. What you want matters and we will always make sure you are heard, seen, and cared for.
I have supported hundreds of folks to heal from trauma, anxiety, & depression; practice self-love and self-compassion; live authentically; have healthy relationships; navigate life transitions; prevent / recover from burnout; and add tools to our wellness toolkits.
My framework is informed by Liberation Psychology. I specialize in a number of therapies and draw from EMDR; Somatics; Sensorimotor Psychotherapy; Narrative Therapy; Parts Work; Mindfulness; Yoga; DBT; ACT; CBT & Resilience / Strengths-Based approaches to tailor your care plan to your unique needs and preferences.
I have a Master's Degree in Social Work and am a Registered Social Worker-Psychotherapist (OCSWSSW & BCCSW).
I became a therapist after many years of working as a community organizer. I came to recognize the very real effect of struggling under and against systems of oppression and the trauma this creates. I dream of a better world where everyone is free from oppression. I believe that therapy can help us get there. My values are anti-racist, anti-colonial, feminist, disability justice, and queer and trans liberation informed.
I am passionate about applying Lily Watson's quote: "if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together."
I am accepting new clients and will be supervising an MSW student-run sliding scale clinic Fall 2024 - Winter 2025 (waitlist starting now) to enhance community access to affordable therapy while providing a safe learning space for advanced MSW students.
